EspressReport ES v4.5 New Features
- DHTML Viewer -
This feature it provides a thin client interface with similar
client functionality as the Report/Page Viewer components. The window has a small upper
toolbar that allows users to change parameters, apply sorting, change column order/visibility,
and change grouping/summaries. Users can also export the report to other formats.
- Dashboards -
ERES v4.5 includes a new dashboard concept. Users can create
dashboards by selecting a group of charts or reports to display in the dashboard.
Users can define common parameters for items in the dashboard, set layout options, and
add drill-down into either a report or chart for each item in the dashboard. Dashboards
are created using a new thin-client Dashboard Builder interface. The dashboard
definitions are saved in a binary (dsb) file, and a JSP viewer renders the dashboards
from the menu.
- QuickDesigner Charting -
QuickDesigner now supports chart creation/editing as
well as reports. Users can create stand-alone charts, as well as add charts to reports.
- QuickDesigner Editing -
Reports and charts created in QuickDesigner can be
re-opened/edited using the QuickDesigner interface. Only reports/charts created in
QuickDesigner can be re-opened. Other reports and charts must be edited using the Report
Designer/Chart Designer interfaces.
- Clustering Enhancements -
Clustering support has been increased. JBoss and
WebSphere clustering are now officially supported in this release.
- Report Bursting -
Allows a single schedule execution of a grouped report (summary
break, master details, etc.) to create separate exports for each distinct group in the
report. Users can configure the delivery options (via UI or API) for each group.
- Data View Secured Parameters for Ad Hoc Reporting -
Allows the administrator to
pre-define secured parameters that are associated with data views. When users create/run
a data view, the filters defined within the secured parameters will automatically be applied.
This feature allows the same queries to be used for different classes of users when they are doing
ad hoc reporting using Quick Designer. The data returned by the query is filtered appropriately
for the user running the view.
- Cascading Parameters -
This allows developers to control the order in which users
select parameter prompts. After users select one parameter, the prompt for the second
parameter is created with the first prompt value applied to the query filter and so on.
This feature can limit the number of distinct entries users have in a drop-down list.
- XML Report Updates -
When users elect to save a report in XML format, all
sub-reports and drill-down levels are now also be saved in XML.
- Dynamic Arrays in Scripting -
Users can now be able to create dynamic
arrays in report scripting.
