EspressReport ES v5.4.1 New Features
- Organizer Interface Enhancement - Users can now sort Organizer files by clicking on the column headers.
- Map Parameters to SQL Statements - For maximum flexibily, users can now map parameters to a SQL statement. They can even incorporate values selected from previous parameter orders in the SQL statement.
- Customized Subreport Query for Linked Subreports - Instead of running a separate query for each subreport instance, this features allow a single query to be specified for all subreport instances. The results are then broken up automatically and used to populate the subreports. This drastically improves performance by reducing the number of database calls.
- 3D Translucent Charts - EspressReport v5.4.1 supports 3D Translucent Charts.
- Open Chart with Backup Data (API Only) - Increase performance by opening the chart with backup data before changing datasource or parameter values.
- Independent Symbol Size in Legend (API Only) - Adjust the symbol size independent of the accompanying text.
- New Gridline Interval Option (API Only) - A new API option is available allowing users to select whether or not to align the intervals along the corresponding axis.
EspressReport ES v5.4 New Features
- New Dashboard Builder - Create elegant dashboards using the new and completely redesigned Dashboard Builder. The intuitive interface gives users the power to drag and drop their reports and charts anywhere on the page. Users can also add new elements to their dashboards, including images, titles, backgrounds, parameter value icons, and more. Yet it is still a thin client tool with no applets or applications to download. Users can also layout shared parameters in free form and list parameter values for easy access. Drill-down links can be inserted into reports and charts.
- SOAP Data Source - EspressReport ES v5.4 supports data sources using Service Oriented Architecture Protocol.
- Clustering/Load-balancing - Apache web server as load-balancer for Tomcat cluster members is now fully supported.
- Excel Export Enhancement - Charts and images can now be exported to Excel along with the report.
- Drill Down with Unmapped Parameters - ERES now allows users to create drill down reports without mapping every parameter. This feature gives the end user the flexibility to further filter the report at run time.
- A4 Page Size - A simple configuration is available to set report dimensions to A4 standards.
- Using Script Results - Users can now use the resulting value of a script in other scripts. With ERES v5.4, it is effortless to add cumulative calculations in reports.
- Date Variables for Parameter Values - Date parameter values can now be filled using a powerful date calculator. The feature makes it easy for users to select a specific date based on calculated values.
- SOAP Interface - Publish reports and charts using SOAP. The latest version of ERES provides a SOAP Interface that generates reports from SOAP requests.
- Script Management Enhancements - New navigation buttons allow users to highlight all scripted cells or select scripted cells one by one. As such, it is much easier to manage and update scripts in a report.
- Access Subreport Formulas - The main report now has access to subreport formulas.
- Map Parameter Values to Functions - Users can now map parameter values to database function results. The parameter dialogs can now prompt for substring, datediff, stdev, and so on in the parameter value selection box.
- Cross tab Reports Made Easy - The new Fixed Field Cross Tab reports makes assembling cross tab reports a snap. Users still have the ability to customize the labels, data fields, and formulas in the report, but there is no longer a concern about formatting, alignment or positioning when the number of columns grows and shrinks.
- ReplaceColumnInfo Enhancement - The Replace Columns Info feature for ERES Menu Page will now replace fields in drill down reports as well.
- One Step Permissions - Granting a user read and/or write permission to a file will automatically propagate the permission for all parent folders. Also, when a user does not have privilege to view the contents of a folder, the folder itself is now hidden from view in the Organizer.
- Read-Only Files in Organizer - Users with read-only permission on a file will now be able to see the file in the ERES Organizer. If they try to open the file, the corresponding viewer will launch (e.g. ChartViewer, PageViewer, Dashboard Viewer, etc).
- Page Break Based on Row Count - Reports can be configured to break to a new page based on a fixed number of rows. For example, users can create a report that display ten rows of data per page.
- Detailed User Activity Logging - Be aware of the activity on your ERES Server. The new detailed logging records pertinent information for activities involving ERES. The administrator now has the ability to see file accesses and configuration changes, and they can quickly troubleshoot problem based on recent events.
- ERES Customization - Customize ERES using company logos, custom CSS, and specialized text. This feature helps companies brand the product using their own look and feel.
- Change Symbol Size in Custom Legend - The symbol size is now automatically resized along with the custom legend text.
- Charts with Gradients - Apply color gradients to add a refreshing look to charts.
- 3D Shading for 2D Charts - Add depth to two dimensional charts with the new shading feature.
- Links in Chart Legend - Insert hyperlinks and drill down links to chart legend text.
- Additional Dial Chart Options - New options are available to improve the look and feel of dial charts.
- Overlay Chart Improvement - It is now possible to adjust the step intervals for different axes in Overlay Charts
- Separate Anti-alias for Chart and Text - In ERES v5.4, the user has the option to set anti-alias for chart only.
- Set Color for Negative Top Label - Users now have the ability to set different colors for positive and negative value labels.
- Pie Chart Improvements - Users can now specify a threshold for pie sectors to highlight small slices in a special color.
