EspressReport Enterprise Server (ERES) provides a powerful, centralized reporting
architecture that leverages the functionality of EspressReport's pure Java reporting
engine and extends it to the enterprise. With built-in report delivery capabilities,
end-to-end user/data security, advanced ad-hoc reporting, query and analysis features,
self-service dashboards, scheduling and scalable pure Java architecture, ERES empowers
business users and provides a web-based alternative to traditional business intelligence
(BI) implementations, and application specific, toolkit based reporting solutions.
EspressReport ES inherits its key functionality from Quadbase's EspressChart and
EspressReport tools. EspressReport is a strong fourth generation Java reporting engine
that contains all the advanced features that enterprise users demand in charts and reports.
Reports can be generated in a number of formats including HTML tables, DHTML style
sheets, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data dumps.
Reports can be constructed in a number of different layouts, using multiple tables and
multiple data sources. Interactive drill-down reports and charts can be generated automatically.
A huge charting feature set is also supported. Users can generate over 30 different
two-dimensional and three-dimensional chart types, plus many different combination/composite
charts can be created. Powerful analysis features include trending, normal curves, and control
lines/areas. Charts and graphs can be embedded within reports, or deployed on their own.
EspressReport ES provides interfaces to manage and retrieve report data from across the
enterprise. User's can directly query databases with full SQL control. In addition data can
be retrieved from Java classes, SOAP (WSDL SOAP and SalesForce SOAP), EJBs, or using connection pools to
leverage application model infrastructure. Legacy or application data returned in XML format can also be
queried. Reports can be constructed using multiple data sources, and extensive parameterization features
allow data to be dynamically filtered.
Administrative data source controls ensure that users can only query data relevant to them,
and report security features can automatically apply data filters for the user/group that is running
a report.
EspressReport ES provides several advanced scheduling features. Schedules can save reports
to the file system on the server. Schedules can also email reports to selected recipients in a
number of formats. Reports can be sent directly to network printers for batch printing, or
published directly to FTP servers. Report bursting features allow large scheduled reports to be
automatically sectioned based on grouped data and delivered separately to different users/groups.
Archiving/versioning features make it easy for users to save historical reports. Versioned
reports contain a snapshot of data, and can be run/published in the same manner as standard
reports. Interfaces allow users to select a version date, and run the archived report in any
supported format.
EspressReport ES delivers superior enterprise reporting performance.
The high performance report engine has been greatly enhanced with innovative algorithms and data structures.
It can generate very large reports (millions of rows) with minimal system resources and lightning speed. Preliminary
benchmarks show that for large reports, EspressReport ES outperforms competitive products by, typically, two to over
ten times. In our performance tests, similar reports were designed for each product. A Java program is then run to
capture the time to generate reports from a database. The number of rows from the result sets range from 100,000
to 900,000. As you can see, EspressReport ES consistently outperforms competitor products by a wide margin.

Key Features:
Full Java EE Integration:
EspressReport ES deploys completely within application environments with no proprietary
server-side processes.
Centralized Report Repository:
Users can collaboratively develop reports and charts on the server and automatically
publish them to Web pages and portals.
Flexible Design Tools:
Report and Chart Designer launch remotely from the server-side, and provide powerful
design environments for report and chart development.
Ad-hoc Queries & Reports:
Thin-client QuickDesigner interface allows users to easily perform ad hoc queries, create and
publish ad hoc reports.
Numerous Output Options: Run reports
in applets or generate HTML/DHTML, PDF, Excel, RTF, XML, text, or CSV files.
High-Powered Data Visualization:
Draw over 30 different 2D and 3D charts with true 3D rendering. Embed charts in reports
or deploy them independently.
Complete Security:
EspressReport ES supports full security model from design through deployment with
remote administration.
Full Data Connectivity:
Draw data from databases, SOAP, XML sources, & Java objects/arrays/EJBs.
Self-Service Dashboards:
EspressReport ES makes it easy for you to create compelling dashboard presentations
with a simple point and click zero-client interface.
Scheduling and Archiving:
Reports/charts can be scheduled to run at a specified time or on a recurring basis.
Report bursting is also supported. Snapshots or versions of reports/charts can be saved/archived.
Interactive maps: Two types of maps are
supported for visualization of report data. One uses Google maps API and the other
uses SVG language. While Google maps are geographical maps, SVG maps can be
geographical maps as well as representation of other spatial data such as floorplans and
seating plans. Interactive features include drill-down and tool-tip reports/charts.
Runs on Mobile Devices: Charts, Reports, Maps, and Dashboards can
be viewed on-the-go from mobile devices such as the iPad and iPhone from Apple.
