Santa Clara, CA - May 2, 2008 -- Quadbase Systems today announced the release of EspressReport® ES 5.5, EspressReport® 5.5, and EspressChart® 5.5. This new release makes it even easier for users to create great looking, actionable reports, charts and executive KPI dashboards, and publish them on the web without programming.
EspressReport® Enterprise Server (ERES) provides a robust, centralized reporting architecture that leverages the functionality of EspressReport's pure Java reporting engine and extends it to the enterprise. With built-in automatic report delivery capabilities, end-to-end user/data security, advanced ad-hoc query and analysis features, scheduling and scalable pure Java architecture, ERES provides a suite of powerful tools for BI/operational reporting. It is also an ideal platform for easily creating and delivering information-rich KPI dashboards to a wide audience of business users without the need for IT development effort. The key new features in the dashboard builder are as follows:
- Support for radio buttons, check boxes for shared parameter value list
- Folders that can hold multiple reports and charts such that more information can be packed in the dashboard
- Data points in one element can be linked to other elements in the dashboard, in such a way that clicking on a data point in a chart or report can cause the neighboring reports and charts get updated based on the value of the data point clicked
- Range parameter variables such as date ranges like 'last week', 'last month', 'this year', 'this month' can be automatically applied.
Other new features include API for managing users and groups, and login listener, which allows users to customize certain system configuration based on user login credentials.
EspressReport is a powerful reporting engine that comes with an easy-to-use visual designer and a robust API. It allows developers to easily create pixel perfect operational reports and deploy them on the web as well as desktops. All charting features in EspressChart are included. New features in EspressReport include complete support for cascading parameters. These cascading parameters can be specified in main reports, sub-reports, and drill-downs. They can also be linked among main sub-reports and main report. Report parameters can be mapped to SQL select statements for parameter value list. Other new features include accessing report template in a JAR file, and enhancement to SOAP data source support.
EspressChart is a cutting edge chart tool for Java developers. Users can easily create/edit charts using the visual designer and publish the charts with the API. It is one of the first Java charting engine that supports true 3D. New features include dynamic scaling for times series data, fixed category-to-color mapping, skip zero data point in pie chart and improved SOAP data source.
The products are written in pure Java and run on all platforms that support Java. All commercial Application Servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, Sun App Servers, Tomcat are supported. Data sources can come from all JDBC compliant databases, JNDI, Java classes, XML files, SOAP and EJB. Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data dumps. Layout options allow reports to be constructed with multiple tables, with built-in interactive drill-down capabilities. Advanced scripting/formula features allow users to embed custom logic directly into report templates.
