New tools make it easy to build dazzling dashboards and highly customized look and feel for UI
Santa Clara, CA – September 21, 2007 -- Quadbase Systems today announced the release of EspressReport® ES 5.4, EspressReport® 5.4, and EspressChart® 5.4. As a leading supplier of web-based BI reporting and information delivery/presentation solutions, Quadbase Systems Inc. leap frogs the competition again with this new release which empowers users to easily create great looking, actionable reports, charts and executive performance dashboards, and publish them on the web without programming.
EspressReport ES is an Enterprise BI Reporting Application built on top of the blockbuster products EspressChart and EspressReport. It allows users to easily create reports, charts, dashboards, and automatically publish the results on the web and/or set schedules with flexible delivery options without any programming. It also supports ad hoc reporting/querying for decision support. EspressReport ES is designed for enterprise-wide or Internet based deployment. As such, it supports one of the most comprehensive security/privilege models. Role based secure data filtering is built into both report templates and ad hoc reporting.
The new dashboard builder allows users to build highly interactive performance dashboards with custom parameter layouts, drill-down, background images, titles, colors, fonts and so forth, all with a drag and drop interface. Dashboards can be immediately published to run as a web page, slide show, or with periodic refresh. The look and feel of the user interface can be easily customized with CSS so that users can easily blend the system into their own web-based application. In addition to publishing reports/charts with URLs and menu page, you can also publish with SOAP.
The highly scalable EspressReport ES delivers exceptional performance. By utilizing clustering/load balancing, EspressReport ES is capable of running large reports for numerous simultaneous users without over consuming valuable resources. It is ideal for deployment at the enterprise level. A robust API is provided for developers who desire further run-time customization.
EspressReport is a powerful tool that comes with an easy-to-use visual designer and API. All charting features in EspressChart are included. New features in EspressReport include support for images and charts in Excel export, using value computed in a script for further evaluation, drill-down with unmapped parameters, date variables for parameter values, SOAP as data source, script management, sub-report formula accessible to main report, and fixed field crosstab that facilitates dynamic data in pivot tables.
As a cornerstone for EspressReport and EspressReport ES, EspressChart is a versatile development tool in its own right. Users can easily create/edit charts using the visual designer and publish the charts with the API. New features include support for gradient, 2D column chart with 3D effect in shading, support for hyperlink and drill-down/ drill-down in legend, enhanced dial chart for gauges, using SOAP as the data source, and set color for negative valued top lable.
The products are written in pure Java and run on all platforms that support Java. All commercial Application Servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, Sun App Servers, Tomcat are supported. Data sources can come from all JDBC compliant databases, JNDI, Java classes, XML files, SOAP and EJB. Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data dumps. Layout options allow reports to be constructed with multiple tables, with built-in interactive drill-down capabilities. Advanced scripting/formula features allow users to embed custom logic directly into report templates.
