New polar chart added along with many new charting features
Santa Clara, CA -- October 13, 2005 -- Quadbase Systems, a leading
supplier of Java-based data delivery and presentation solutions, today announced the
availability of EspressChart v5.0. An extensive list of features and enhancements
have been added to the award-winning charting tool since the last major release a year ago.
EspressChart allows both developers and end users to easily create and
configure over 30 different types of professional looking 2D and 3D charts, with the simple
point-and-click Chart Designer interface. For version 5.0 a new polar chart type has
been added. Similar to an XY scatter, the polar chart allows users to plot paired polar
coordinates in a grid. In addition, a number of enhancements have been added for other
chart types. For radar charts, users can now set a different scale for each axis.
For pie charts, users can now group elements that fall below a threshold value into an
"others" slice.
The extensive object oriented API allows charts and chart templates to be
easily incorporated directly into HTML pages, or into applets, servlets, JSPs, and
applications. EspressChart allows users to export charts in a variety of graphic
formats including PNG, GIF, JPEG, WMF, BMP, SVG, PDF and Flash. Written in 100%
pure Java, EspressChart easily deploys on virtually any platform, and works well with
most Java-compatible application servers including WebLogic™, WebSphere™, IPlanet™
and Apache Tomcat™.
A key programmatic functionality in version 5.0 is the ability to
add multiple charts to a single plot. This new feature provides an extensive set of
composite chart functionality beyond standard combination charts. In addition, new
features allow users to control the appearance of long axis labels, and explicitly set
the alignment of data top labels relative to chart points. New export options allow
users to include true type fonts to the chart PDF export. More information about the
new release is available at http://www.quadbase.com.
