Long-awaited third version of the Enterprise Server
edition provides a re-tooled system architecture, an extensive new security
and integration feature set, and powerful ad-hoc reporting capabilities.
Santa Clara, CA - October 26, 2004 -- Quadbase Systems,
a leading supplier of Java™-based information delivery and presentation
solutions, today announced the release of EspressReport® ES 3.0.
The completely revamped enterprise server edition offers a host of new
features and configuration options.
Central to the new version, is the re-tooled system
architecture. EspressReport ES now deploys completely within J2EE
application environments with no separate server-side application processes.
This new architecture provides easy application integration, and allows
users to leverage the power of their existing infrastructure.
EspressReport ES v3.0 emphasizes ad-hoc reporting.
Included with the product is the innovative QuickDesigner interface.
Using only a Web browser with no client software, users can easily create
ad-hoc queries and reports in just a few simple steps. Finished reports
can easily be rendered in many different formats, and saved back to the
server-side repository for deployment. In addition, users can publish
presentation-quality reports directly to the Web without coding.
These features empower end-users and free developers from one-off report
creation and deployment tasks.
In addition, EspressReport ES provides several new
security and integration features. User/group privileges are applied
using an ownership model that allows security to be enforced automatically
as implementations grow and change. In addition to privileges row/column
level security can be applied within reports giving different users customized
views of the same report template. EspressReport ES also includes
a powerful server-side API that allows users to integrate reporting in
Web applications. Using simple code, developers can easily create
custom portals and presentations as part of their applications.
Existing automated deployment options including integrated reporting portals,
and URL-based report generation have been enhanced. New scheduling
options allow users to create report archives, and deliver scheduled reports
via email, to network printers, and to FTP servers.
The core of EspressReport ES is still Quadbase's powerful
Java reporting engine. EspressReport is a strong fourth generation
tool that contains the advanced reporting features that enterprise users
demand. Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print
quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data
dumps. Layout options allow reports to be constructed with multiple
tables, with built-in interactive drill-down capabilities. Advanced
scripting/formula features allow users to embed custom logic directly into
report templates.
