Quadbase Systems Relentlessly Delivers Innovative Enterprise Reporting Solutions with v6.0 Release

New features includes maps, advanced scheduling, WSDL SOAP, and dashboard drill-down

Santa Clara, CA - October 30, 2008 -- Quadbase Systems Inc. today announced the release of EspressReport® ES 6.0, EspressReport® 6.0, and EspressChart® 6.0.  Quadbase Systems is a leading supplier of web-based business intelligence (BI)/operational reporting and information delivery/presentation solutions.  In addition to new features for reports and charts, this release includes significant enhancements to the scheduler and dashboard builder.  It also allows users to present data through Google© maps and SVG maps.

EspressReport ES is an enterprise BI/operational reporting application that allows users to easily create, publish, and schedule reports and charts without programming.  It also supports KPI dashboards and ad hoc reporting/querying for decision support.  Built on top of EspressReport, EspressReport ES is designed for enterprise-wide or Internet based deployment.  As such, it provides one of the most comprehensive security/privilege models in the market.  Role based secure data filtering is built into both report templates and ad hoc reporting.  It delivers high performance, supports clustering/load balancing and is capable of running large reports and supports large number of users without consuming large amounts of system resource.  A robust API is provided for developers who desire further run-time customization.

An exciting new feature allows you to visualize reporting data with maps.  Two types of maps are supported, namely, Google© maps and SVG maps.  Google Maps provide street, satellite, and terrain views spanning the entire world.  Reports and charts can be embedded directly into tool-tips on mouse over.  You can also drill-down to another map, report or chart.  SVG maps allow you to code areas on the map and color an area based on certain value range.  As in Google maps, full drill-down capabilities are supported.  In contrast to Google maps, an SVG image does not have to be a geographical map.  It could be a floor plan, seat map in a theater, for example.  Maps can be added to dashboards.  You can also do drill-down from dashboard to dashboard.  New scheduling features include packaged reports in emails, email recipients based on report parameter values, daily frequency and error alert.

EspressReport is a powerful tool that comes with an easy-to-use visual designer and API.  All charting features in EspressChart are included. New features in EspressReport include support for scripting on image url: display different images based on value of scripting logic; support for two types of SOAP data sources: WSDL and Salesforce.com data source; and multiple database support in a single query for Microsoft SQL Server©.

As a cornerstone for EspressReport and EspressReport ES, EspressChart is a versatile development tool in its own right. You can easily create/edit charts using the visual designer and publish the charts with the API.  Exciting new features include support for pre-defined as well as custom gauge templates for dial chart; better text placement for pie chart; variable point size for scatter chart; overlaying of 3D charts and SOAP data sources as in EspressReport.

The products are written in pure Java and run on all platforms that support Java.  All commercial Application Servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, Sun App Servers, Tomcat are supported. Data sources can come from all JDBC compliant databases, JNDI, Java classes, XML files, SOAP and EJB.  Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and XML and CSV data dumps.  Layout options allow reports to be constructed with multiple tables, with built-in interactive drill-down capabilities.  Advanced scripting/formula features allow users to embed custom logic directly into report templates.
