New version offers more advanced features in charts, ad hoc reporting, and
Internationalization
Santa Clara, CA -- December 20, 2006 -- Quadbase Systems, a leading supplier of web-based BI and
information delivery/presentation solutions, today announced the release of EspressReport® ES 4.6,
EspressReport® 5.3, and EspressChart® 5.3.
EspressChart now supports fill-patterns or textures in charts. This will make it compliant with requirements for products that can be used by vision-impaired users. Pie values in addition to percentages can be shown in legends. Parameter values can be shown in chart labels at run-time.
Charts in reports can display the corresponding aggregation values in a summary break, crosstab,
and master & detail report based on the location of the chart. For example, a chart in the table header can display
aggregation data in all group levels, while a chart placed in the innermost group header/footer can only display the
aggregation in its own level. This works in both report templates as well as ad hoc reporting using Quick Designer.
EspressReport offers one of the most powerful drill-down features of any reporting tool. In
report designer, the user can now add a report with drill-down structures to any other report with drill-down
structures in effect merging the drill-down tree into one.
In addition to the already comprehensive internationalization support, a visual editing tool is
added to allow users to easily translate the user interfaces to a specific languages.
For meeting the requirements of enterprise-wide or Internet based deployment, EspressReport ES
provides one of the most comprehensive security/privilege models. Role based secure data filtering is built into
both report templates and ad hoc reporting. In addition, users can replace column data at run-time such that the
actual data stored in a database can be modified when it is viewed in an on-line report. One application is that
encrypted data can be decrypted for on-line reporting, yet the decryption function can be securely hidden from the
user.
EspressReport ES offers superior price/performance as an enterprise reporting tool. Salient
features include self-service dashboard, repository for management and automatic publishing of
reports/charts/dashboards, ad hoc reporting/charting, user administration and security management, scheduling and
archiving, and much more. All commercial Application Servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic, JBOSS, Sun App Servers,
Tomcat are supported. Data sources can come from all JDBC compliant databases, JNDI, Java classes, XML files, and
EJB. Reports can be generated in highly formatted DHTML, print quality PDF, Excel spreadsheets, Rich Text files, and
XML and CSV data dumps. Layout options allow reports to be constructed with multiple tables, with built-in
interactive drill-down capabilities. Advanced scripting/formula features allow users to embed custom logic directly
into report templates.
