New features provide an expanded function/scripting
capability, new parameter options, and improved data source options.
Santa Clara, CA -- January 17, 2003 -- Quadbase Systems,
a leading supplier of Java™-based information delivery and presentation
solutions, today announced the release of EspressReport™ 3.0. The new
version adds over 40 new features and enhancements to Quadbase’s powerful
reporting tools.
EspressReport is a sophisticated reporting solution from
Quadbase Systems. Written in pure Java it allows users to develop and deploy
professional-looking reports across virtually any platform. With the robust API,
users can easily integrate reporting into servlets, JSPs, and applications to
deliver Web and print ready content on the fly. The template-based reporting
system extends report design capabilities to end users with the powerful, easy
to use Report Designer UI. With its flexible design and extensive features,
EspressReport can handle virtually any reporting requirement from the simple
output of application data to detailed presentations of corporate information.
EspressReport can generate reports in HTML/DHTML, text, CSV, XML, Rich Text,
PDF, and Excel formats.
New for version 3.0 is a completely re-designed and
expanded function and scripting library. The new formula notation uses
a more intuitive syntax making it easy, for non-technical users to create
even complex expressions and computations. The expanded scripting language
allows users to modify and control even more report properties, as well as
use variables and arrays within scripts. EspressReport 3.0 also includes
several new run-time parameter options. Users can now define multi-value
query parameters, create custom parameter selection dialogs, and define
run-time parameters within report formulas. Users can now define report
parameters for data derived from a Java class. For version 3.0 the XML
data source capabilities have been expanded to allow users to query report
data from XML files in virtually any format. Users can now draw data directly
from EJBs as well. New data view features make it even easier for end users
to retrieve data from relational databases.
Version 3.0 also provides expanded charting capabilities.
Users can now create charts using an independent data source. More features
from Quadbase’s award-winning charting engine have now been extended to
EspressReport including hyperlinks, date/time-based zooming, pop-up labels,
and histogram generation. In addition, new API calls allow charts to be
deployed independently from reports, either in applets or as server-side
images. For more information about the new release is available at
