New features include Flash generation, new font
options, and easier-to-manipulate templates.
Santa Clara, CA -– February 13, 2004 -- Quadbase Systems,
a leading supplier of Java-based data delivery and presentation solutions,
today announced the availability of EspressChart v4.2. A number of new features
and enhancements have been added to the award-winning charting engine, keeping
it’s position as the leading enterprise Java charting solution.
EspressChart allows both developers and end users to
easily create and configure professional looking charts, with the simple
point-and-click Chart Designer interface. For version 4.2 users can now
bring in any system font for chart labels, titles, data points, and
annotation. Within the Chart Designer, user’s can now directly modify a
chart’s query without returning to the data source manager. New parameter
options allow users to create multi-value parameters for charts, and new
class file options allow users to code their own parameter objects when
plotting object/array data.
The extensive object oriented API allows charts and
chart templates to be easily incorporated directly into HTML pages, or
into applets, servlets, JSPs, and applications. EspressChart allows users
to export one of the over 30 different chart types in a variety of graphic
formats including PNG, GIF, JPEG, WMF, BMP, PDF, SVG (scalable vector graphics),
and now a new Flash export. Charts can now be exported in Macromedia™ Flash
format, giving users even more options for displaying dynamic charts in
Web applications. Written in 100% pure Java, EspressChart easily deploys
on virtually any platform, and works well with most Java-compatible
application servers including WebLogic™, WebSphere™, IPlanet™ and Apache Tomcat™.
Version 4.2 adds several new display features. Users
can now draw chart axis tickers inward, as well as draw sub-tickers for
logarithmic data. Data points can now be drawn in fraction increments
for sizes less than one. More template options make it easier for users
to work with chart template (.tpl) files. Templates now store several
records of back-up data, allowing them to be opened without a data source
present. In addition, users can now run template files, using the column
mapping defined in the template. New mapping no longer has to be specified
at run-time. For more information about the new release is available at
