EspressDashboard Overview

EspressDashboard (EDAB) allows organizations to build highly actionable, self-service, KPI (key performance indicator) dashboards (also known as executive dashboards, performance dashboards and business intelligence dashboards). It allows users to easily query key performance data, develop charts, reports, maps and incorporate them into self-service business intelligence dashboards for immediate web-based publishing without programming.

EspressDashboard can seamlessly access data from virtually any data source. It can draw data from JDBC/ODBC compliant databases, JNDI data sources, data warehouses, WSDL SOAP, SalesForce SOAP, text files, XML files, Excel Spreadsheets, Java class files, and EJBs. Its straight forward Java EE architecture and intuitive, drag and drop user interfaces allow users to finish major projects with presentation quality charts, reports, and highly interactive and actionable business intelligence dashboards in minutes, hours, not months. Its robust role based security model and user authentication/permission features allow the enterprise to disseminate the right KPI dashboards to the right audience at the right time.

EspressDashboard allows users to create and deploy KPI dashboards without any administrative or development overhead. The integrated Dashboard Builder provides all the tools users need to create custom dashboards in a simple thin-client environment.

Business Intelligence Dashboards:

  • Shared Parameters: Users can specify filter parameters with various layouts on the dashboard. These parameters can be shared among elements on the dashboard to provide uniform ranges of the KPIs at run-time.
  • Unlimited Drill-down: To see detailed information about certain data point, users can drill-down to a chart, report, map, or another dashboard. There is no limit as to how far deep one can drill-down to and how many points to drill from.
  • Element Linking: Clicking on a data point in one element will propagate the value to other elements on the dashboard. In effect, the affected elements on the same dashboard are refreshed with parameter value fed from the data point clicked.
  • Space Efficient Folders: Put a group of reports and charts in a "folder" on the dashboard so more information can be packed in a dashboard.
  • Real-time Refresh: Users can set up automatic refresh time interval for refreshing of data in the dashboard.
  • Slide Show: A group of dashboards can be run as slide shows for customized data monitoring or professional presentations.
  • Flexible Formats: Display dashboard charts in either static images for universal compatibility or in animated flash for added visual appeal.

Flexible Data Visualization:

  • Over 30 Chart Types: EspressDashboard supports over 30 different two-dimensional and three-dimensional charts. 3D charts are true 3D, allowing real-time pan/zoom, rotation, transparency, gradients, and light source modification.
  • Animated Flash Charts: Charts can be exported to Adobe Flash format, as well as common file formats such as GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, WMF, PDF. The user can enable or disable animation for the Flash file and set the frame rate for animated Flash.
  • Report with Charts: Report types include tabular reports with or without grouping. Charts can be included in a report as well.
  • Two Types of Maps: Plot your data easily on Google Maps, or create customized SVG maps.

Robust Enterprise Platform:

  • Highly Scalable: Scales from tens of users to thousands of users with ease. Supports clustering and load-balancing for large deployment.
  • Secure Deployment: Dashboards as well as data in these dashboards will be accessed via a robust role based access control model. As such, only authorized users can access the specific dashboards. In addition, the same dashboards available to different users will present different data in the dashboards based on the security levels of the users. The number of dashboards, reports and charts can therefore be minimized, because you only need one copy of each item. The system is quicker to implement and more maintainable as a result.
  • Supports Ad Hoc Reporting: A zero-learning curve ad hoc reporting interface is available for users to easily make reports and charts for the dashboards.
  • Runs on Mobile Devices: Dashboards can be viewed on-the-go from mobile devices such as the iPad and iPhone from Apple.
  • Supports Alerts: Two types of alerts are supported: dashboard alerts and monitoring alerts. As such, users will see visual feedback of alerts in the dashboard or receive email notification when alerts are triggered.
